For your information, all the radiation equipment in Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Center (SASMEC) were licensed under Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984 (Act 304). This Act stated that all radiation equipments can only be used in designated room only (room equipped with barium plastered). The OT rooms in SASMEC which has barium plastered are Room no.1,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19 & 20. However, the department had received few request from the surgical team to use the image intensifier (II) machine in the non-designated room due to change of event during surgery.
In view of this, the department had decided to create an SOP in order to control this uncommon event and closely adhered to the Act 304. Kindly refer to the SOP as attached with this memo.
